Answer: That’s a great question, Jill, and thanks for asking. You know that I advocate eating at least five to six servings of vegetables a day. And nobody can argue that one of the best ways to lose weight the healthy way is to eat a lot of vegetables. Drinking your vegetables, however, may be a different story.

Juicers work by grinding food into small pieces that are spun to extract juice from the pulp. In doing this, they remove the fiber from the vegetables, which means if you’re drinking your veggies, you’re taking in less fiber.
Fiber is important when it comes to weight loss because it slows down the digestive process, and helps you to feel fuller for a longer amount of time.
Additionally, juices made with just fruits and certain starchy vegetables (like carrots or beets), can contain a lot of sugar, and you can overdrink them pretty easily, which will lead to weight gain.
So, if you’re going to juice, make your juices with a larger ratio of vegetables to fruit. And, ideally, you should add back some of the separated pulp and fiber into your drink, or use it in some way in your cooking.
